About Me

At The Freelance Farrier, we are focused on providing an accomplished Farrier service with the highest levels of professionalism – we will do everything we can to meet your expectations & work ethics.

My name is Jason & as an apprentice I always wanted to work Freelance. I did managed to work a little freelance but with the twists & turns life throws at us I ended up starting my own business. Having run my business for 13yrs i took a sabbatical and took a few years out. I am now setting up the freelance side to follow the path i wanted after becoming qualified.
I don't claim to be the best in the world, far from it be i give 100% to anything i do. I will do my upmost to do a better job on any shoeing/triming on any horse/pony than the last person, even if that person was myself.

As an apprentice we as a forge entered into a few competions from the Royal show to the Lincoln show.I found this a great experience to hone my shoe making skills.
In 1994 i was lucky enough to be in the apprentice England shoe making team (in my final yr) that traveled up to Scotland, Ayrshire to compete.
As a farrier im always wanting to improve in the Farriery industry and no better way than to work with as many Qualified Farriers as i can either using ready made shoes or hand made.

Give me a call or email to discuss a 50% reduction on the 1st days works. This day you can assess myself in a working enviroment, only pay £80(50%) and if happy more days can be booked at full cost on my price page.(only for farriers up to 30 miles or 45min drive from my home address)

The Freelance Farrier offers a day to day farrier service 4 days a week Tuesday-Friday. If I work more than 2 days within a week I will discount the day's by £10.(only on offer to farriers up to 70miles away)

In my spare time im a RFU level 1 coach at Southwell rugby club. I help coach my son in the u14's and love to watch him train for "Leicester tigers player development program" (DPP) on a Monday evening at Newark rfc. We as a family love watching rugby either at welford road or on TV, walking, MTB and camping out to pass the time when not working. Family life is very important to us and we take every opportunity to fill the weekends.

Trawling the internet to find a farrier can be hard work, until now.
We at The Freelance Farrier are sure you’ll be happy working with us.
